Join Mandy Nicholson at Sandringham library to learn about the journey of Wurundjeri women's dance and how these dances can be created from revival language.

Mandy Nicholson is Wurundjeri-willam (Wurundjeri-baluk patriline) artist, the founder, singer and songwriter of Djirri Djirri dance group and Traditional Custodian of Melbourne and surrounds. Mandy also has connections to the Dja Dja wurrung and Ngurai illam wurrung language groups of the Central/Eastern Kulin Nation on her father’s side and German on her mothers.

Mandy has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Aboriginal Archaeology, worked for the Victorian Aboriginal Corporation for Languages for 6 years and has a PhD on ‘How Aboriginal people connect to Country, off Country’. She is also cultural mentor to young Indigenous girls, through learning and teaching of culture, language, dance and ceremony and a Women’s Cultural burning team leader.
